About the Position:
Solero Workforce Solutions is recruiting a dependable, patient, and attentive companion and caretaker to support an older adult living independently in a 55+ community. Responsibilities include companionship, dialysis transportation, meal preparation, laundry, errands, and light housekeeping. The ideal candidate follows directions carefully, learns the client's routines, and respects her independence and privacy.
Responsibilities :
• Provide transportation to and from dialysis three days weekly, coordinating safe handoffs with clinic staff.
• Transport and accompany the client to other medical appointments, grocery shopping, and approved errands.
• Offer engaging conversation, companionship, and walks appropriate to the client's abilities.
• Follow the agreed mobility assistance plan, remain attentive to fall risks and weakness after dialysis, and communicate concerns promptly.
• Prepare meals according to family-provided dietary instructions and food texture preferences. • Assist and supervise the client when using the kitchen.
• Wash dishes, clean preparation areas, and properly store food. • Complete laundry, including clothing, towels, and bed linens.
• Maintain tidy living areas through light housekeeping and promptly address spills or trip hazards during scheduled visits.
• Communicate updates to authorized family members and obtain approval for schedule changes. • Protect the client's privacy and securely handle apartment keys and access devices.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
• At least three years of experience supporting older adults.
• Experience transporting clients to dialysis and medical appointments.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license, current automobile insurance, and a safe driving record.
• A reliable, clean personal vehicle suitable for transporting the client and her mobility equipment. The vehicle must be completely smoke-free: tobacco, marijuana, vaping, and similar products must never be used inside it.
• Availability for 15 hours weekly across Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, including separate dialysis drop-off and pickup trips on dialysis days.
• Experience supporting individuals who use walkers or wheelchairs and following fall-prevention practices.
• Ability to prepare meals and perform laundry, light housekeeping, and errands.
• Clear English communication skills for interactions with the client, family, and clinic staff.
• A patient, attentive, trustworthy approach and the ability to follow established routines.
• Willingness to complete authorized background checks, reference checks, credential verification, and driving-related screening.
• Ability to maintain a smoke-free environment around the client at all times.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting adults age 80 and older.
• Familiarity with following dietary instructions for individuals receiving dialysis.
• Experience recognizing and reporting changes in a client's mobility, energy, or comfort.
Schedule and Care Expectations
The caretaker will be fully off duty during dialysis treatment and must return at the agreed pickup time. The family handles clinic calls during treatment. Exact working hours and transportation arrangements will be confirmed before hiring. The client manages her own medications. Medication administration and nursing services are outside this position's scope. Any hands-on dressing or transfer assistance must be reviewed and expressly included in the final care arrangement before assignment.
Selection Process
Solero Workforce Solutions will screen candidates before presenting qualified applicants to the family. Selected candidates will participate in a virtual family interview, followed by a virtual interview with the client.
