POSITION SUMMARY
Solero Workforce Solutions is seeking a skilled Back-End Developer to support enterprise technology initiatives within a large public-sector environment. The Back-End Developer will design, develop, test, integrate, maintain, and enhance secure and scalable server-side applications, APIs, databases, and system integrations.
The successful candidate will collaborate with application developers, business analysts, database administrators, cloud engineers, DevOps professionals, cybersecurity teams, project managers, and other stakeholders to deliver reliable technology solutions aligned with organizational, technical, security, accessibility, and operational requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, develop, test, implement, maintain, and support server-side applications and services.
Develop scalable and maintainable application logic using approved programming languages and frameworks.
Design, build, maintain, and document RESTful APIs, web services, microservices, and system integrations.
Integrate applications with databases, third-party applications, cloud platforms, and enterprise systems.
Develop and optimize database queries, stored procedures, data-access components, and application interfaces.
Translate business and functional requirements into effective technical solutions.
Collaborate with front-end developers to ensure seamless integration between user-facing applications and back-end systems.
Troubleshoot application defects, integration failures, performance issues, and production incidents.
Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective solutions.
Implement authentication, authorization, encryption, input validation, error handling, logging, and data-protection controls.
Participate in code reviews and ensure compliance with coding, architecture, security, and performance standards.
Create unit, integration, regression, and automated tests as appropriate.
Support user acceptance testing, system testing, deployment, and post-production validation.
Participate in CI/CD processes and collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams.
Use version-control systems to manage application source code and development changes.
Monitor and optimize application performance, reliability, scalability, and availability.
Maintain accurate technical documentation, including APIs, data flows, application dependencies, deployment procedures, and troubleshooting instructions.
Follow established change-management, release-management, incident-management, and configuration-management processes.
Protect confidential and organizational information in accordance with applicable policies and legal requirements.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
An equivalent combination of relevant education, technical training, certifications, and professional experience may be considered.
Experience
Minimum of 3 years of professional back-end software development experience in an enterprise or similarly complex technology environment.
Demonstrated experience developing, testing, deploying, and supporting production applications.
Experience developing APIs, web services, or application integrations.
Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS
Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in several of the following:
Java, C#, .NET, Python, Node.js/JavaScript, or comparable back-end technologies
RESTful APIs and web services
JSON and XML
SQL and relational database technologies
Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or comparable platforms
Object-oriented programming and application architecture
Git or comparable version-control systems
API authentication and authorization
Unit and integration testing
Application debugging and performance optimization
CI/CD concepts and automated deployment
Microsoft Azure, AWS, or comparable cloud platforms
Agile/Scrum software-development methodologies
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference may be given to candidates with experience in:
Public-sector, education, government, or other highly regulated environments.
Enterprise application development and modernization.
Microsoft Azure or other cloud platforms.
Microservices and containerized environments.
Docker and/or Kubernetes.
DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
Enterprise resource planning, human resources, financial, learning-management, or similar enterprise systems.
API gateways and enterprise integration platforms.
Identity and access management.
Application monitoring and logging platforms.
Secure Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices.
Agile project environments.
Relevant certifications from Microsoft, AWS, Oracle, or other recognized technology organizations are preferred but not required unless specified for the assignment.
SECURITY AND DATA PROTECTION RESPONSIBILITIES
The Back-End Developer must:

Apply secure-coding practices throughout the software-development lifecycle.

Promptly report identified vulnerabilities or suspected security incidents.
Comply with applicable federal, state, local, privacy, and data-security requirements.
Complete required security, privacy, compliance, and organizational training.
The selected candidate may be required to successfully complete applicable background screening, fingerprinting, identity verification, and other security requirements before receiving access to client facilities, systems, or confidential information.
